Use of Pedigree Master if the Primary Computer is a Macintosh

The originators of PedigreeMaster designed it to work with computers using the Windows operating system.  However, this does not preclude Mac users from working with Pedigree Master.

Currently no standalone program exists for either Macintosh or Linux systems. Users who are running an operating system emulator can use Pedigree Master under Windows normally. All guest operating system options require you to purchase a license for Windows.

Options for operating systems emulators include Bootcamp, Parallels, VMWare Fusion and VirtualBox.

Bootcamp
Bootcamp creates 2 totally separate operating systems on your hard drive. Users choose to either boot up their computer in  Mac OS or in Windows. Advantages is that it’s faster and more responsive since only one operating system is running at a time. Disadvantages are that you cannot share data among the 2 systems easily.

Parallels
Parallels runs 2 operating systems on your hard drive simultaneously. Advantages are that allows for sharing of data and files easily between the 2 different system by drag and drop. Disadvantages are that the entire system will have slower performance. It is suggested that if you use Parallels that you only run it and Windows when you require it and do not leave it up all the time.

VMWare Fusion
VMWare Fusion runs 2 operating systems on your hard drive simultaneously. Advantages are that allows for sharing of data and files easily between the 2 different system by drag and drop. VM Ware is also higher performance and will make the guest operating system be more responsive compared to Parallels. Disadvantages are that the entire system will have slower performance. VM Ware also allows for many guest operating systems and is more flexible in the virtual systems you can run. It is suggested that if you use VM Ware that you only run it and Windows when you require it and do not leave it up all the time.

Virtual Box
VirtualBox runs 2 operating systems on your hard drive simultaneously. It is similar to VMWare Fusion in capabilities however it is free to use so the only cost is the purchase of a Windows License. VirtualBox itself can run on Macintosh, Windows, Linux and Solaris computer so it the most flexible solution.
