NSIP Certified – National Sheep Improvement Program

The NSIP Certified Program was designed to help breeding stock buyers purchase with confidence and simplify the selection process; and to help NSIP participants market their best seed stock. This program was made possible by an ASI Let’s Grow Grant. Breeding stock which meet the criteria below may be advertised with the NSIP Certified logos, as applicable.

Criteria for NSIP Certified Breeding Stock

Refer to the latest percentage reports for ranges for each breed to determine the target ranking for each applicable trait.

Certified NSIP Maternal Genetics	Certified NSIP Stud Genetics
Range breeds, Polypays, Katahdins	All Breeds
Ranking in the top 50% for US Range, US Maternal or USA HAIR index Ranking in the top 30% for NLB and MWWT	Animals designated as stud prospects Ranking in the top 15% for respective breed index Ranking in top 10% for at least 1 trait of interest in the breed Proven sires are preferable
