USA Range

USA Range reports are a listing of the elite animals for varied economically important traits and indexes based on recently collected data. The data will be processed for Targhee, Rambouillet, and Columbia multiple times a year.  For a more detailed description of the various traits and indexes go to “descriptions of all EBVs”.  To run your own custom reports, visit the Online Searchable Database to fine tune queries based on your interests.

Note: To be eligible for the reports flocks/animals must be genetically linked to other flocks. These links are required to tie these flocks together so that cross-flock evaluations and thus cross-flock comparisons can be made. In their absence genetic estimates (EBV’s) are only comparable within flock. The genetically linked animals must also meet minimum accuracy levels in the traits. As flocks become more genetically linked additional animals will be included.

What Are EBVs?

EBVs are science-based, industry-tested measurements of heritable traits that can be tracked and measured. For those familiar with Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) used in cattle, EBVs are very similar. EPDs denotes the breeding value of an individual animal’s progeny whereas EBVs denote the value of the individual animal. More simply, EBVs equal EPDs times two.
